100 Words: Mother’s Day

 

I told her yesterday: When something big happens, you’re still my first phone call.

Hers is the voice that’s constantly playing on a loop in my head.

When I’m making dinner, “there’s nothing worse than overcooked pasta.” After a few drinks, “never go to bed without taking your makeup off.”

And in the heat of the moment, “no one’s going to speak up for you if you don’t.”

Hasn’t taken a flattering photo of me a day in her life, talks over you on the phone, scolds you when you eat while standing.

Her drawbacks are pretty limited besides that.
