Your Guide to Fall: the She’s from Buffalo Edit

There is so much to love about life in Western New York during the autumn months. Crisp temperatures and changing leaves offer a beautiful backdrop to some of the most enjoyable activities.

Some might roll their eyes at a day spent picking apples and sucking down pumpkin-flavored lattes. But here, we justify it – it’s all in the name of supporting women in business.

This is your guide to fall: The She’s from Buffalo edit.

Women-owned business picks for fall festivities

1. Kicking it in The Lounge Shop apparel

A local, woman-owned business that serves up some comfy looks to cozy up in during the fall months. Whether you’re a Bills fan or just lovin’ on your hometown, there’s a piece for everyone: sweatshirts, tees, tanks, hats. Tip: These make great gifts for someone who feels impossible to shop for!

Find The Lounge Shop @LoungeShopBUF on Instagram and Etsy.

2. Apple picking at Sanger Farms

If you’ve been following SFB for a bit, you may have noticed I loooove to call out Sanger Farms during the fall. It’s a Youngstown farm and bakery that I truly believe flies under the radar. Because of this, you’re in for a more relaxed day – perfect if you have kiddos or just aren’t looking to battle the crowds (@covid).

At Sanger Farms, you can pick apples, go on a hike, take a hayride, eat and drink in their café, and buy treats from the general store.

3. Go on a date at Elm Street Bakery

If you like thin pizza [like I do], you’ll be eating GOOD at Elm Street Bakery. But with separate menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can venture to this East Aurora gem any time of the day. There’s a nice ambiance inside, so whether you’re breaking bread with an old friend or someone special, it’s a great fall destination… even on those rainy days!

4. Indulging in sweets from Blue Marble

Blue Marble Sweet Shop is centrally located on Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo. It operates as a traditional confectionary, and with retro candy lining the walls, there’s certainly a nostalgic feel to the space.

It’s a great place to stop if you’re looking for unique treats to serve at a Halloween party, Bills game viewing, or a fall birthday celebration.

5. Cleansing a space with Elle James products

I don’t know if it’s the transition so apparent in the fall. I don’t know if it’s the undeniable crispness in the cool air. But I do know there’s something about this time of year that encourages me to Marie Kondo my life.

Unwanted clothes? Donated. Messy drawers? Organized. And, there’s no better way to fully cleanse your spaces with home goods from Elle James, including her incense, sage sticks, and crystals.
