Hang Ten: MJ Karp

Hang Ten is an easily-digested, quick-to-read interview series. I created it to pick the brains of some powerhouse women that I’ve been fortunate enough to know because of SFB. I fire off the questions, you give the answers.

Creating content for She’s from Buffalo helped me realize how many woman-owned fitness studios there are in the Buffalo area. It’s something to be proud of.

But, if you’re the business owner, you’re tasked with the challenge of finding a way to make your studio – and your brand – shine.

MJ Karp has succeeded.

She owns SWEAT 716, a boutique-style fitness studio offering barre, pole, circuit, strength, and personal training classes in downtown Buffalo. The Swan Street location is perfect for 9 to 5ers, city residents, or weekend warriors looking to break a sweat before brunch.

Where MJ has really thrived is effortlessly integrating so much of her own journey and values into the culture at SWEAT 716. Above all else, the studio prides itself on being a haven for body positivity and self-love. Love. To. See. It.
