100 Words: Don’t boo. Vote.

Women’s Equality Day is celebrated annually on August 26, comemmorating the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution which prevented government from denying Americans the right to vote on the basis of sex.

Though 2020 marks 100 years of women’s right to vote, it is imperative we acknowledge the 19th Amendment didn’t create change for many sisters of color.

It would be easy enough to question the integrity of this holiday altogether. But this year more than ever, it’s important that we stand on the shoulders of the women that came before us, and exercise our right to vote come November.
