Hang Ten is an easily-digested, quick-to-read interview series. I created it to pick the brains of some powerhouse women that I’ve been fortunate enough to know because of SFB. I fire off the questions, you give the answers.
Adria Campana’s success against all odds made me desperate to pick her brain via Hang Ten Interview.
She’s the business owner and general badass that brought Western New York its first gourmet toast café and coffee shop, TOASTED. But here’s the kicker — TOASTED first opened its doors just as COVID-19 sent our city into quarantine.
Still, with eccentric decor, a one-of-a-kind social media presence, and a ton of hard work, TOASTED prevailed. How’s that for a happy ending?

1. Who’s your favorite Buffalo celebrity? I don’t have an exact favorite “Buffalo celebrity” but I do have some favorite Buffalo bloggers! Buffalovebirds, Belleoftheball45, and of course, Toasted!
2. What’s something you’re proud of yourself for? Following my heart and opening my dream café, Toasted!
3. If you had to challenge a random person on the street to compete against you in something, what would it be? TikTok dance-off!
4. Which body part makes you feel good about yourself? My arms! For most of my life, they looked like string beans! Now, after training weekly and being required to lift heavy things at the shop, I have more definition and look stronger overall!
5. What’s the biggest financial regret you have so far? Feeling pressure to go to college because everyone else was ready to go.
6. What’s your favorite account to follow on social media? I have a couple favorites right now! I love the “holistic health process” so @sarahs_day on YouTube and Instagram. @Sazan is my favorite beauty guru and @drewbarrymore is hysterical, I love her!
7. What’s an outdated stereotype that needs to be banned once and for all? Going to college will make you successful.
8. What’s your favorite piece of furniture or interior decor that’s currently in your home? Our new sectional is amazing! I love family movie nights because everyone, including Lily and Snoop, our dogs, can relax together!
9. What’s your vice? Drinking coffee may not seem like a great vice, but when you’re the owner of a coffee shop…you tend to end up drinking more than you would like and it becomes one!
10. Who’s the most iconic female movie character? Mary Poppins, played by Julie Andrews. She is the ultimate nanny who is slightly stern, but mostly kind and nurturing. With her magical power and grace, she is a character that makes everyone wish she could be there to help them through life!
